The name Hare presumably comes from Jacob Hare (1742-1828). The paternal grandmother of Emma Hare Crouch and Rosetta Hare Crouch was Hannah Crouch née Cordy. Hannah's brother John Cordy (1720-1800) married twice. His second wife was Ann King who married Jacob Hare in 1803 after John's death.

The register entry for Emma's burial gives her name as Emma Baxter Crouch. Hannah's sister Anne married Robert Baxter.
