JOSEPH HAM & FAMILY

THIS SEGMENT OF FAMILY TREE IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN FAMILY TREE BUT AT ONE STAGE DURING RESEARCH I THOUGHT IT WAS*. I HAVE LEFT IT ON THE WEBSITE AS IT IS POSSIBLE THAT I MAY FIND A CONNECTION LATER AT AN EARLIER GENERATION.

While one cannot be absolutely certain that all the children shown for Joseph and Ann are from the same Joseph & Ann there is sufficient evidence to be reasonably confident. Agnes, Henry and William were all baptised at St Mary Lambeth. When John married Catherine Zerrer in 1823 one of the witnesses was Henry Ham. When Henry married Sarah Bird in 1824 the witnesses were Joseph and Harriet. Harriet & Frances were both baptised at St Mary Paddington. From their marriage records Harriet, Frances and William Aves all had a father Joseph who was a carpenter. Henry and Harriet were both baptised on a Christmas Day.

The only marriage (around the right time) of a Joseph Ham to Ann that I have found took place in Broadhembury, Devon in 1791. They were described as sojourners i.e. temporary residents.

* I originally thought that John Ham (c1806-1846) was the John Ham born to Joseph & Ann in 1797 but it was clear that this was not the case as John Ham (c1806-1846) was recorded as being 40 on death and 35 in the 1841 census.
